Mrs. Wilson's Flock of Second Grade Warriors! Stand tall and proud and BE UNIQUE!
Wednesday, November 4, 2015
This week we started our Pilgrim simulation unit! The purpose of this unit is to give students a closer look at the struggle that was part of everyday life in Plymouth Colony. Students are making decisions and facing consequences just as the Pilgrims did nearly 400 years ago. Today students had to cross the Atlantic Ocean, and they had to work with their team to answer true/false questions, perform tasks, and write in their daily log.
This group's task was to tie three pieces of yarn together in less than a minute. This helped them cross the Atlantic Ocean faster.
Check out this group working together to decide who would have to perform a task of doing 10 push ups in order to save a passenger on the ship! By the end of this simulation we hope the students will have a deeper, richer understanding of why the Pilgrims are honored at Thanksgiving each year. The students had a wonderful time and were very engaged during today's lesson!
FRIYAY!!!!
