Last Tuesday the second grade had a Thanksgiving Social. The kids had a great time! Juice boxes, great conversation, and homemade muffins made by Mrs. Comeau! Here are some pics!
Earlier this month Mr. Richard Voutour from the Leominster Veterans Center paid a visit to the second grade at Johnny Appleseed School. He spoke to the kids about what it means to be a veteran, and talked to the kids for forty-five minutes about the various branches of the military. The students had some wonderful questions, asking questions such as what kinds of jobs servicemen and women have, where they live, and things that they do. This is all part of our pen pal program that the second grade is undertaking!
Students will start bringing home a Grab and Go Math Game beginning on Monday. He or she may borrow the game for a day or a week. Return it and get a new one! The games are an awesome way to help reinforce basic facts in addition and/or subtraction!
We will be visiting the Scholastic Book Fair on Wednesday, November 14th at 9:45 am. You are welcome to shop with your child! There are lots of wonderful books at varying prices.
This week we are continuing with the same spelling list as last week. Students will be tested on Friday, November 16th.
We had a fantastic day at the fair yesterday. We started off with a presentation from Animal Adventures, where the kids got up close and personal with several unique animals. Then the students each made an opposum poster, after researching their habitat, foods, and characteristics. In the afternoon, we headed to the fair where students had an amazing time! I tried to get as many pics as possible so I apologize for not getting everybody!
