We spent the month of January learning about famous Americans. In particular, students spend a lot of time learning about famous African Americans, such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rosa Parks. Each student selected a biography chapter book from the library, and used the book to obtain information to write a report. Students also made timelines about Harriet Tubman, who was another famous historical figure from our country's past.
This week Miss D taught the students how to play the game "Scoot". Students worked in pairs to solve subtraction problems throughout the classroom and then check their work by using addition. This activity was a great way to reinforce how to subtract with regrouping, and to work collaboratively.
What an incredible performance by Crocodile River Music yesterday afternoon! We were so lucky to have them share their talents with Johnny Appleseed School!
