We have been doing a lot of Reader's Theatre this last month. The kids love it, and one of the students in the class refers to it as Theatre Club! The kids are getting a lot of practice in working cooperatively, listening to one another, and taking turns. Here are a few pictures from some of last week's readings:

Drop Everything And Write
Our school held a Drop Everything And Write morning on Friday, January 18th. Classrooms were paired up and older students acted as peer coaches to help younger students become more confident in answering open response questions. Our class was paired up with Ms. Gendron's fourth grade class, and it was an amazing experience to observe and help facilitate. The students loved working together and learning from each other. The goal was for students to be able to restate the question, include three to four details, use transition words, use correct capitalization and punctuation, and write an ending statement. Ms. Gendron's students were wonderful role models and peer tutors, and the students in 2E were all actively engaged in the lesson! Here are a few pictures!
CARE PACKAGES UPDATE
Thank you very much for all of the wonderful donations for our two pen pals who are serving our country. We had plenty of items for both boxes, and the extra donations will be given to the Leominster Veterans Center next week. The first box was sent out today in the mail to Kyle Voutour, and the second box will be sent to Jordan Paskell as soon as he is deployed to Germany in early March. Your generosity is amazing!

New Words for a New Year!
Today we talked about new words rather than new resolutions for the year. Each child chose a word that they want to use and emulate throughout 2019. Some choices included kindness (but they are already kind...LOL!), bravery, organization, and joy. Students wrote why they chose their word and then they shared them this afternoon!
