Healthy Eating Choices Lesson

In late October Mrs. Hennessey visited us along with a dietician from Chartwell's. We talked about ways to make healthy food choices, and sampled some salad made from kale and cherries. Schoolhouse Rock - Three is a Magic Number

https://youtu.be/aU4pyiB-kq0

Be on the lookout....

I am waiting confirmation pending approval of a new Donors Choose campaign. Our class needs a new rug to sit on since the other one is becoming worn out. Once I get approval, the link will be posted for parents to look at. I am trying to get the cheapest rug possible that is fire retardant and that also is of good quality, so I selected a solid plum color.

Empathy Visit

Mrs. Russo and Miss Ruggles visited our classroom today to talk about empathy. The kids learned that empathy means thinking about or understanding how other people are feeling. In the book Rump, Red showed empathy when she stood up for Rump when he was being bullied. We also listened to a reading of the book Stand in My Shoes by Bob Sorman. In this book, a young girl named Emily learns what empathy is, and shows examples of it throughout the book. We will be discussing empathy in the class throughout the year, so your child may come home wanting to talk about what we discussed in class today.
