APPLE TASTING DAY

On Monday we tasted and observed several varieties of apples. We discussed similarities and differences, and then voted for our favorite tasting apple. The results? Red delicious won, with golden delicious a close second. THANK YOU for all of the apples you donated!

THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF FLAT STANLEY!

FLAT STANLEY IS HAVING QUITE THE ADVENTURE AROUND OUR COUNTRY! THIS WEEK WE HEARD FROM SEVERAL RELATIVES OF OUR STUDENTS ABOUT HIS ADVENTURES IN VERMONT, FLORIDA, MAINE, ARKANSAS, AND TOWNSEND, MA. THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE FAMILIES AND FRIENDS WHO HAVE BEEN TAKING GOOD CARE OF STANLEY AND HELPING HIM TO HAVE QUITE AN AMAZING TIME!  WE WILL BE CHARTING STANLEY'S TRAVELS ON MAPS BEGINNING NEXT WEEK. EACH STUDENT WILL RECEIVE HIS OR HER OWN FLAT STANLEY TRAVEL SUITCASE WHICH WILL HOLD A MAP OF THE WORLD INSIDE. STUDENTS WILL BE USING THE MAP TO LOCATE DIFFERENT STATES, COUNTRIES, AND CONTINENTS!

We are learning about the life of John Chapman, who was born in Leominster, on Monday, September 26th. We will be reading books about his life and discuss major events. We will also be making applesauce and tasting and observing different types of apples in science.  We are looking for donations of apples. Please consider donating one or two apples to help make our applesauce tasty! Thank you!

Rights and Responsibilities

In social studies we are learning about rights and responsibilities of citizens. We have brainstormed various rights which include the right to vote, freedom of speech, and the right to education. We also have talked about responsibilities at school and in the classroom. Some responsibilities include cleaning up after yourself, doing your homework, and taking care of your pets. Today we made flip books and listed these rights and responsibilities.

SkippyJon Jones Update

SkippyJon Jones has been having a great time so far! He has visited two families and done a lot of amazing things. This weekend he was very busy enjoying the great outdoors!
